Go Far Woman's inaugural race was in 2013 with the start and finish just south of the West Acres Shopping Center. The first year included a 5K, Half Marathon and Relay. Although it was warm outside, the women and girls that participated were able to stay cool with the Fargo Fire Fighters showering them with water at the finish!
2014 marked the second year with a new location, the Scheels Arena, the Go Far Woman Expo during packet pickup, and a new distance - the 10K! Although overcast, we still had over 1,800 women join the event and finish strong with the Fargo Fire Fighters once again at the finish, handing out medals, water and spraying cool showers down from their fire engine!
Three years in and we were still evolving the Go Far Woman event to include more! The Go Far Girl made it's debut in 2015! Over 200 girls participated in the Go Far Girl event Friday night - making it an extra special event to help promote confidence, strength and determination among our young ladies! 2016 Brought the Go Far Baby Diaper Dash and Toddler Trot - rounding out all ages being able to participate in the weekend!
2018 brought the addition of the Champion 5K on Friday night, one that includes both MEN and WOMEN! Now the entire family can participate in the Go Far Woman Weekend!
2019 will be the 7th year running of the Go Far Woman events, and we are looking for another great year! Distances will include the Friday Night Champion 5K, Saturday 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Relay, Go Far Girl Youth Run, Go Far Baby Diaper Dash and Toddler Trot. The Go Far Woman expo will be on Friday & Saturday
Each year the Go Far Woman raises money to donated to the Essentia Health NICU, where Dr. Renee Schwandt worked with some of her smallest patients. To date, over $39,000 has been donated!
Join us for the 7th Running of the Go Far Woman Run, on August 9 & 10th, 2019!
